About Me
My name is Simon Tidy, I am a compassionate and qualified counsellor located in the Australian Capital Territory. I am a graduate of the University of Canberra with a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I'm a member the Australian Counselling Association and an Associate of The Hart Centre.
I became a counsellor in 2020 after 30 years working in media and public affairs. Communication has always been an important part of my working life and as a counsellor I believe it's the basis of a good therapeutic relationship. I believe that no matter who we are, we can all benefit from talking to somebody about issues and challenges that affect our lives.
I am a life long learner and I keep myself up to date with the latest thinking in counselling and psychotherapy. Beyond counselling, I keep myself busy catching up with friends, going to art galleries, following my football team the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL and being a dad to a teenager and two cats.
"Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills, capacities, views about life."
